Northfield wedding photographer
Here in Minnesota, we don’t let a little thing like a winter of frigid temperatures slow us down. This arctic wedding was just before New Years in Cannon Falls and Northfield, MN.
This was a really fun wedding, even when we had to huddle together for warmth by the river!
Red Wing, MN
Landscape and nature photography is something that I’ve always loved, but not something I’ve spent a lot of time working on. While I was in Red Wing for the last portrait session I posted, I stopped down by the river to take a few landscapes. I also got a few shots of some amazing birds. I only caught one eagle the entire time but I got some beautiful shots of an osprey and a turkey vulture.
It’s a bit of a departure for me but I certainly enjoyed it! I hope you like them too.
Ice Queen – New Brighton Art Photographer
This is the last installment of my winter art pictures! From the looks of the weather, we may finally be rid of all the snow (at least in my yard) this weekend. I’m totally excited!
Emily contacted me for an Ice Queen inspired shoot. She had this amazing jeweled dress and a crown she wanted to wear. It was totally fun. Unfortunately, it was *ridiculously* cold. The temperature dropped to the low teens that day. We had to work quickly to get the shots without freezing her to death!
She was totally hard core.
Thanks for working with me!
Snow Fairy – New Brighton Art Photographer
For the next installment of our somewhat fond (lukewarm?) farewell to winter, I have a beautiful snow fairy. We got some beautiful fresh powder a few weeks ago and I was *so* thrilled. I thought it might be our last chance for fresh, clean snow of the season so I scrambled to get a shoot together. Sadly, I now know I would have plenty of other chances to shoot on fresh snow…
I found an absolutely stunning pair of wings on Etsy from KissedByPixies shops. She was so wonderful to work with and extremely helpful! We ended up needing to have them sent overnight because of snow delays and when I had the shoot scheduled. The wings arrived in ample time and were far more beautiful than they appeared online! Thank you again for your help!
My snow fairy model was referred by a mutual friend and I am so glad I was able to meet her. We had a really wonderful time talking and she was fantastic to work with. It’s great when you go in to a project with a new person and come out with a new friend. I’m excited to work with her again on another project!
I hope you enjoy these pictures! I know I had a great time working on them.
Persephone – New Brighton Art Photographer
For the next installment of my fond farewell to winter, I’m thrilled to share my Persephone themed shoot. I wanted to do this last winter but there just wasn’t enough good snow days. The day we had this scheduled, it was extremely cold. It was a day we had winter weather advisory for the cold and wind chill. I believe it was about 3°F without wind chill…
I planned to just reschedule an outdoor portion for another day but my model was sure she could handle it! She did great, but *I* froze. I was so busy trying to make sure she stayed warm, I managed to freeze myself. Oops!
We also killed our flowers. hehe… The florist warned us that the flowers wouldn’t do well in the frigid cold. I was just thrilled they did fine while we were shooting. Once I brought them in… they sort of melted.
Anyway, I had a great time working on this with my favorite model. I’m hoping to do more along this theme this year actually!
Brittany and Erik – Maple Grove wedding photographer
Brittany and Erik were married at the Elm Creek Chalet in Maple Grove. Unfortunately it was a very cold and blustery day so the ceremony was moved inside. We did brave the elements for a few pictures but the wind was definitely a big factor! The fall accents were really beautiful and we had a really wonderful time together. Thank you for having me be a part of your day!
Kayla and Josh – Minneapolis engagement photographer
I’ll be photographing Kayla and Josh’s wedding later this summer. We met up in Minneapolis for their engagement session a few months ago. They were a lot of fun to work with and I’m very excited to see them again. They were so vibrant and joyful. I think it shows!
Jennifer and Nathan – Chaska wedding photographer
Jennifer and Nathan had their family ceremony on Memorial day weekend. Nathan is a service member and they had been married before he left for his last tour. Now that he was back state side again, they wanted to have a nice wedding to celebrate with their friends and family. They both come from military families so having their wedding on Memorial Day weekend was a nice way to honor the veterans in their families.
They were married at City Square Park in Chaska on what ended up being one of the hottest days of the year. They were a really fun group and we all had a lot of fun together even though we had to make some changes to the schedule because of the heat! Their officiant was so much fun too. He was having a great time which meant so did everyone else!
The reception was at the Grand Palms Wedding and Event Center in Chaska. It was just down the street so we all walked on over. The speaches were so touching and moving and everyone was just so sweet. They had a Norwegian wedding cake called a Kransekake. It was so beautiful and a really fun counterpoint to the array of cupcakes.
Once the party started everyone really let loose! It was so much fun and everyone was dancing. It was really wonderful celebration and I am glad I was able to be a part of it. Congratulations Jennifer and Nathan!
Marissa and Wesley – Farmington wedding photographer
Marissa and Wesley were married at St. Micheal’s Catholic church in Farmington, Minnesota. Marissa was the fourth woman in her family to wear her wedding dress! It was a beautiful family heirloom and it was so amazing to see all the women who wore it together at her wedding. We made stops at the Dakota county fairgrounds at St. Olaf College for pictures before making it to the Vintage Ballroom and Suites for the reception. It was a long, full day and I was thrilled to be a part of it.

Amanda and Zach – Edina Engagement Photographer
Amanda and Zach have been together for years and just got engaged. They are so cute together and so young! They were excited to have some pictures done and braved the winter cold for some fun in the snow. We met up at Centennial Lakes Park in Edina and later moved to a coffee shop to warm up. They were great to work with and were willing to let me try out a few new ideas.
I can’t wait for their 2014 wedding!
